[He doesn't want to tell her this, but he's pretty damn sure communicating with the scientists will require tact, patience and communication skills that she doesn't really have.] You need someone who's gone before and talked with them if you want the trip to go anywhere.
[audio]
I don't want to keep putting it off forever.
[audio]
Like, there are reasons other than just fighting purposes why you shouldn't go by yourself.
[audio]
[audio]
Two, you don't know where you're going once you're down there or what the escape routes might be.
And three, you have a history of being pushy and offensive.
I really don't think you're going to get anything out of this trip if you try to do it all yourself. Alright? That's all I'm saying. You need to be delicate and respectful when talking to those people, and I'm not sure you can do that, especially if they aren't going to be exactly cooperative. Does that make sense?
[audio]
[but she isn't twelve anymore, and she's learned some things-- and so she just sighs]
... Yeah. I know.
But I'm just impatient. You're getting surgery and making illusion cloaks and I'm so proud of you, and what have I done? Nothing, that's what.
[a part of her had probably known that she was going to hear something similar to this, and that part of her had wanted to hear it; wanted to be talked out of going alone-- because no matter how much she wanted to be able to just take off when Hanna was done with his surgery, skip down to the scientists' enclave, and save the day? she knew that it was a bad idea]
[and so, that part of her had made her go to her moirail, so that she could have some sense knocked into her]
[audio]
Vriska, surgery is something i've been waiting for since I was sixteen. It's something that i've been putting off for nine years. The fact that I'm finally doing it isn't for some noble cause, or any of that. [Even if he dislikes Pitch enough to want to fight him and trap him somewhere the light will get to him, he can't justify fixing himself so he can do just that as a noble cause. Because it really isn't. It's a decision made out of anger, out of dislike, and something he's doing purely for himself.]
And the illusion cloak was a suggestion that I decided to listen to because I didn't want to be scared to go outside. I'm not taking steps forward, I'm taking them backwards. Really.
But patience is something that will help you forever, alright Vriska? That's something you can hold onto, and it can save your life one day, yanno? It's not a sin to wait. Especially when you could get hurt if you don't.
I don't blame you for being impatient, but there isn't anything wrong with waiting for the best opportunity either. It's the smart thing to do, and you're a smart girl. So, just sit and wait and you'll have your moment, alright? I know you will.
[audio]
... What if you leave before I get a chance to go?
[audio]
[But if she says so.]
I'm not going anywhere if I can help it Vriska, so don't think about the what ifs, just...try and prepare yourself for what you can do right now, okay?
[audio]
[she sighs again, and there's the sound of her slumping]
Can I do anything right now? I don't think I can.
[audio]
Maybe you can ask someone if they need help with a project? Be helpful? I'm sure there are tons of things around that you can do that can benefit you and someone else.

[You're still a kid and while he understands you've been through a lot, that just makes him want to give you more leeway. More of a childhood, even if that's hard here.] You're not a little kid, but you're still a kid.
[audio]
[audio]
You're a kid until you're not one, alright?
[audio]
[audio]
[audio]
[audio]
[And okay, he's kind of teasing her right here, don't you mind, Vriska.]
[audio]
[audio]
Okay, Vriska. Okay.
[audio]
[audio]
I know you're dependable, but that doesn't change the fact that you're still young, Vriska.
