[After almost an hour of fighting it, he finally stills against her, sleeping in the way an exhausted person would, fitful and quickly diving deep into sleep.

He probably wouldn't wake up even if she moved completely out of under him.]

[still, she doesn't-- she is glad when he falls asleep, though, and she lets out a little sigh of relief]

[these last few months have really sucked]

[They really have. And Hanna's sure they're not going to stop sucking either if his current dream has anything to say about it.

He couldn't have been asleep for more than half an hour when it starts, and he shifts in her arms, hiding his face against her shoulder. It isn't much, just the start of something awful, but the longer he sleeps, the more the darkness seems to seep in, memories resurfacing, cutting and pasting information to trick his brain and make it all that much more worse.

And a few more minutes in his fingers are curling up into fists, shifting again or rather trying to squirm away from what ever it was his mind was supplying him with. Outside somewhere there is the sound of a horse.]

[Vriska has just barely dropped off to sleep herself, but his movement wakes her up]

[she really wants to go kill that boogeyman guy, consequences be damned; she wants to load one of Jo's guns with rock salt and go to town]

Hanna.

[she shakes his shoulder, wanting to wake him up before it gets too bad]

[If she had just called him, he wouldn't have woken up, but the shake gets to him at least a little and the nightmare he had been having shatters around him, his eyes blinking open to stare up at her. It hadn't been long, but there was something to be said about Pitch's nightmares.

He was good at what he does and Hanna doesn't even look like he's rested a wink. In fact, he looks rather miserable, and sick instead.] V-vriska?

Yeah, I'm right here. More nightmares, huh?

[He runs his fingers through his hair and nods, bringing his hands down to rub at his eyes. Pressing the palms to them tightly, he groans and lays back again, trying to calm himself with slow breaths, but its not working very well.]

I don't feel so great...

Do you, uh. Need me to do anything?

Murder a spooky fucker?

[He feels like he's going to throw up, and he actually stands up, holding his stomach, unsure if he's going to be trying to dry heaving if he tries.] I dunno...I...

[He covers his face with his hands and sighs raggedly.] I dunno...

I would! I really would. If you wanted me to.

[she's 98% sure that wasn't a serious request, but if it was, she'd be out the door in a heartbeat]

[she swings her legs over the side of the hammock with a small amount of difficulty, but doesn't stand just yet]

[Honestly he isn't sure if he's being serious or not. A more 'Hanna-like' request follows though.]

Just...tell me if wasn't h-his choice to leave. That's all I need to hear. [Because he didn't leave because he wanted to. He didn't. Pitch was wrong and that's all that mattered.]

No way, it wasn't his choice. Nobody chooses to leave. It just happens.

Okay...

[The nausea is still there, but it isn't so prominent any more, not like he's going to puke. Instead he sighs again and shifts, moving to sit on the bed in one corner.] I don't think I can get back to sleep.

[she really, really just wants nothing more than to grab a few guns and go boogeyman-hunting]

[but if she died or was hurt, she knows how much worse that would make things, especially if it happened at what was essentially his request]

[so instead, she sits down heavily next to him, hands in her lap]

I dunno what to do.

I'm sorry.

I already tried those sleeping runes I made for Riku...they just made it worse.

[He scrubs at his face again and shakes his head, not sure what to do either.] I have no idea either...

[she sits there next to him for a good few minutes, staring out across the room, lost in thought]

[then she stands up, walks over to the closet, and pulls out a shotgun]

[nightmares forever at one of the absolute worst times possible for them, or the chance-- just the chance; nothing set in stone-- of her getting hurt?]

[maybe it's worth gambling for after all]

[If he would be just, looking in on the scene? It might be hilarious, but there is nothing about it right now. A child...just fourteen holding a shotgun and ready to use it.

Even if Vriska isn't human, it still bothers him every time.] V-vriska..I wasn't being serious, when I said that.

Maybe, but you were right. This isn't going to stop until he's gone.

[He swallows hard, knowing that's probably true, but...]

He'll just come back and start it all over again, and you'll be a victim too. I don't want you to go out there and look for him.

Hanna, I have nightmares anyway. All trolls do. I'm used to them; they don't bother me. I'm like one of the only people here who couldn't be his victim.

{she grips the gun tighter]

I won't do it if you really don't want me to, but maybe I should at least try.

I did too, but never like this...

[He sighs and shakes his head again.] I don't want you to go out there, Vriska. Its bad enough everyone had to keep me from getting my ass kicked the other day. I just...

No more fighting for a while...for me? Please?

... Okay.

[she reluctantly puts the gun back in the closet, then sits down next to him, putting her head on his shoulder]

But Hanna? Say the word, and I'd fight for you any day.

I know Vriska.

[Axel'd do the same thing for him. And...well? If it was to protect her so would he.]

Maybe you should lie down again.

[he'd gotten an hour of sleep before the nightmares came; if he tried again he might be able to snatch a little more]

I don't think I want to...

Yiss, she probably has. Though I imagine they're worse now...
