John doesn't bother Hanna at breakfast. In fact, he makes sure to give him a little space, make burritos and sandwiches that Hanna can grab and go after his shower. But when he sees him in the library-

"Hey, Hanna? Do you, um... have a moment?"

Hanna pauses in his motion of pulling a copy of Chopping Mall off the shelf, turning to see John.

"Oh...hey John! Yeah, just...grabbing some bad movies. What's up?"

John is just going to watch him for a moment, a long moment, frown, and sort of lean in.

"...are you pissed at me?"

Hanna stares at him for a moment, considering why he might should be pissed at John.

"Because you talked to Arthur?" He guesses.

"Mentioned it," he 'corrects' because he didn't tattle, thank you very much. They talk. It's normal.

That gets a little smirk from him, putting the dvd under his arm as he leans against the shelf. "Did he mention to you that I punched him in the face for being a nosey nelly?"

"Didn't need to. I fixed his nose."

Notice how John is not at all mad about this. Nor surprised.

"I mean. He's always nosey."

"He's a major dick about it, at least he was being one then. I'm surprised he isn't walking around with a broken nose more often if that's his usual modus operandi."

Hanna doesn't seem all that miffed about it now either, thankfully. He's already forgiven Arthur. He hadn't pissed him off so much as pushed him to a point where he'd broken a little where usually he'd find himself bending. "But, to answer your earlier question, no. I'm not mad at you, John."

He just said that.

"Good, then. I was trying to give you more room in the morning. I'll make normal breakfast from now on."

Hanna snorts, he loves you John. "I shouldn't ask how many times he's broken his nose, should I?"

Though he has to raise his eyebrow at him, having wondered about the to-go breakfast. "Didn't we talk about this months ago? If I'm mad, and I actually stay mad, which really doesn't happen that often, I promise, I'll tell you. Because you asked me to, remember?"

"No, you shouldn't ask how many holes he's fallen into. But the nose thing too, yes."

And he nods, because-

"Yes, but this seemed different. You acted different. So I didn't want to presume."

He's feeling more stable after he'd hid a while, David's departure, it's...it's not better, but he can talk about it at least.

"I wanted to be left alone. I felt like I should be alone, and I wasn't exactly feeling myself." He still feels that way, a little, but it's dissipating slowly back to the dull buzzing that's usually there. "Do you ever feel like you're stuck in a repeating cycle, John?"

A pause before-

"Is that something you want or something you don't want?"

Hanna fights back a little smile, "my loop fucking sucks, but I won't say anything about anyone else's. I just wanted to break the cycle for once, so I tried something different. I'm kind of on the fence about whether it worked the way I wanted it to or not."

Hanna shrugs, not sure it's at all a fully realized plan, but at least half of one. "To be left alone so I didn't try and push people away from me. I don't really like talking about me but when I get like that, it's like everyone's favorite topic."
