You have reached the mailbox of Hanna Cross. If you don't have an appointment, my secretary will follow up with a return message shortly. [a short pause.] meaning me. I'll get back to you, don't worry.

And if this is an emergency what are you doing on the phone? Cardio is your friend. byyyye!

[He nods back, oddly touched by the sentimentality - not that it shows to those who don't know him well - and picks up the crane]

Thank you, Hanna. I will keep it in a place of honor.

[Thrawn stands up, crane cradled in his hand close to his chest]

Good, that's where you should be. [He gives Thrawn a big smile to back it up before slipping off his stool.]

Maybe next time I can teach you how to fold one. I won't keep you though, you seem like the kind of guy who's always busy.

Perhaps. I should also like to continue our conversations regarding the Chimaera and Anakin Skywalker. I suspect these will be..enlightening.

[Thrawn holds out the hand not holding the paper crane, indicating Hanna should do the same]

Yes! We can put it on the agenda. Maybe I'll even take notes. [He's not, but he figured the office based jokes might actually get Thrawn unlike some other less dry humor.

Unsure of which hand to hold out, he mimics his hand choice, ready for what ever is next.]

[he makes no acknowledgement outwardly of Hanna's joke. Instead Thrawn moves to shake Hanna's hand again, but leans further in, grasping his forearm instead]

Before, you had greeted me in the human custom.

This is how we Chiss greet one another.

[It gets him closer, a little more intimate than a handshake and seated like he is, even if it makes him a little taller than usual, he looks up at Thrawn. The closeness makes him have to tilt his head back more than normal to catch eyes with him.

His own hand grasps Thrawn's forearm, not quite as far. His arm is decidedly shorter, but he tries.]

Cool, is this an every day kind of greeting or just some of the time?

It is in place of your handshake.

[in contrast, Thrawn's hand is colder, his species running altogether at a lower body temperature than humans. He releases Hanna's hand, without acknowledging the second half of his 'gift' - that he allows Hanna to know the name of his species]

Casual enough then. Thanks. Maybe we can mix the two, make a secret handshake sometime, but I'll stick with this one for now.

[Hanna, while definitely an idiot sometimes, is at least observant. He's still a detective, even if it's a self applied label, and info on different kinds of 'weird' are details he latches on to. He isn't going to make a big deal out of it though, and honestly...if Thrawn were more dry humor, less military? He'd remind him entirely of his partner, cool hand included.]

I'll read your report for next time too, maybe add some notes, corrections if there are any. Just don't ask me to make sure my grammar and spelling are correct, we can fix that in post.

[A sudden realization comes sharp to Thrawn at that, who pauses as he stares at Hanna]

I believe I know where my initial dislike originated. You remind me very much of another young Jedi, one who I fought against, numerous times.

Thank you for helping me realize it.

[He lets go of Hanna's arm, satisfied]

[Hanna stares at him a moment, mouth just hanging open a moment before he shuts it. That's probably not jedi-like behavior.]

O-oh! Thats...I mean. That's super cool. Hopefully he didn't irritate you too much.

[Sliding off his stool, he walks Thrawn to the door even if he really doesn't need to, but figures if he's attempting to fix poor first impressions being polite is probably better than not.]

See you later I guess. Um, holler if you need anything?

[He nods his goodbyes and walks away, the faintest hint of amusement on his face]
