Personality: Beyond a shadow of a doubt, Hanna is filled with overwhelming energy. Whether or not he takes everything in leaping bounds rather than a stride for no reason or to hide the fact that everything isn’t perfect, it isn’t exactly clear, but depending on the position of the moon it’s probably one or the other. He tends to exhaust most of his company, forced or otherwise because of this energy, and it’s hard to keep up with him when he’s excited. The endless flurry of words he spits out at you kind of...blurs together and at times it’s impossible to get a word in. Either that or he’s just ignoring you Conrad. Though despite his enthusiasm he doesn’t seem to have many friends. Some people have stated so far as “needing a restraining order” against him, or have asked if he’s bothering customers when all he’s done is simply walked in to gather information. It is perfectly plausible that these instances have had just cause, like the bar he met Conrad at being the same he might have had his first kiss in, drunkenly, to a man he mistook for a girl with a boyish haircut, but. That’s never exactly confirmed.

Moving on, Hanna is pretty good at keeping upbeat, though there are times where that falters. He has abandonment issues, and those show pretty fast when he gets attached. While he is perfectly content to hide them, he does worry about all the things he isn’t, and what he believes he should be. Friends obviously deserve much more than he is, and due to the lack of friends, and the falling out he apparently had with people after high school, they have no real reasons to stick around, right? He mentions this to his Zombie friend, asking him why he’s still there even though he’s clearly capable all on his lonesome, but when asked if he’s ‘alright’ Hanna feigns a little frustration, manages a smile and completely brushes it all off. The change in atmosphere is almost jarring, in that it obviously makes him uncomfortable, and any sort of validation of those feelings of doubt will be brushed off just the same. Because it clearly doesn’t matter, life goes on. Except it really doesn’t.

As previously mentioned, Hanna talks a lot, and it’s probably because he doesn’t get the chance to because who does he have around to listen? He actually is intelligent though, and knows his way around the paranormal world despite the long list of huge fuck ups. The fact that he is able to use runes at all is a testament to that because in using them you have to understand the magic which has been said to take more than a little bit of research. Being clever with the wide array of uses, Hanna sometimes uses them as payment with his doctor, perhaps a little look into his morality in that he doesn’t mind paying his doctor in pseudodrugs, even though he doesn’t approve of giving Veser, who is underaged, alcohol. He’s stated before outside of comic in official Q&A’s that his whole reason for becoming a paranormal investigator is so that he can help people out, so they don’t have to go through what he did, and because of that I think he’s a little more sensitive around kids, letting them enjoy their youth a little longer than he was able to.

On that same train of thought, Hanna is pretty selfless when he’s working. His own safety takes the backseat if it is at all threatened, and his friends and others become first priority. In this, even the disturbers in his cases get at first treated far better than he would have himself, choosing to negotiate before resorting to threats or violence, even if it usually doesn’t work out the way he wants it to. And, while Hanna’s offense is a little more slow than most, in that he has to draw first before attacking with any real power, he can still pack quite a punch if he needs to. Hanna’s temper doesn’t make much of an appearance unless forced into these situations, and any threats, verbal or otherwise, are sure fire ways to get him ready to knock your block off.

If he had his way, everyone would be treated equally, and while he can get mad, his anger is quick to cool. Given serious situations, he can actually drop most of his act and get right into the zone, being far more helpful than he usually is, and his competence really shows. But it’s sadly not a habit he usually gets into and the awkward, talkative nerd generally eats all that away.

Background: Hanna Cross wiki page

Abilities: Hanna, first of all, does magic by drawing runes or, magic symbols. What ever he draws on, those runes activate and they have a wide range of uses. Canonly he has used them for defense, offense, as seals, spirit guides, a sort of paranormal radar and for pseudo-drugs. Because of the nature of the runes, having to understand the symbolism and meaning for them to work, Hanna can only pass on runes by drawing them onto paper. Due to an unexplained reason, this magic, depending on the scale of magic used, has side effects. This can be nausea to throwing up blood or passing out, though often it’s written off by Hanna as something completely fine and not at all worried about.

On a side note, stemming from this magic, he tends to smell dead to creatures and persons with a superior sense of smell. He claims it is because his magic taints his blood, which probably is true enough, but he also is the not so proud owner of a large crisscrossing scar that spans the entirety of his chest. Covered in runes, it’s speculated that they are what’s keeping him alive and an incident long prior to canon was the cause of both his scar and his lack of parents.

Aside from that, Hanna has a great power. The power of...being really fucking annoying. And awkward. And apparently attracting paranormals, but, that’s just a coincidence, right? On top of being strangely close to the paranormal scene, Hanna, despite having shit all, is pretty good at making something out of pretty much nothing. His usual ‘weapon’ of choice is a hammer with a rune atop it, not exactly conventional. His shitty lapop and shitty apartment are also testament to how he doesn’t seem to care what it looks like. If it’s useful and he can use it, he will. Other miscellaneous skills include the lack of cooking skills, being able to sew and looking like a twelve year old boy.

First Person: [Figuring out the fine tuning of his shiny new Watch phone...thing, Hanna frowns at the device a minute before pressing one of the side buttons, having at least figured out the basic functions. He’s still not sure how far away to hold it for a clear picture though, his forehead visible before he pulls back and more of his face is seen, though mostly it’s just glasses and hair, really] Hey! So. I figure now is as good a time as any to mention that I have some ‘goods’ for trade if anyone needs them, I mean. For other things.

[Certain people might receive charity, or hell...if you asked nice he probably would give free hand outs for anyone who tried, but. He’s at least trying to hide the fact that he isn’t the best business man ever for the moment.] Goods meaning runes, yanno. Like magic, only...well. It’s exactly that I guess. Magic. I’ve got all sorts of uses for it, so ask away and I should be able to figure out something, though mainly the uses are defense, offense and some….recreational multi-purpose shit on the side. If you get what I mean.

If you’re interested just contact me, Hanna Cross, and I should be able to get back to you, though I do have to warn that some of this stuff...uh, that last kind, you should only take one at a time. So. Remember that. I’ll probably send it out with a little reminder anyways. But, that’s all! That’s my PSA, so. If anyone is looking for a trade, I’ve got your magical, rune-y goods all waiting.

Best shit around, promise. [And, with an awkward grin and a wink from the hair and glasses, the feed clicks off.]

Third Person: When Hanna woke up, he hadn’t been expecting a window view on a train. In fact, the gunshot, squeezing his eyes shut, and not knowing what happened next? He had considered the fact that he might be dead. Not the most religious person in the world, he still considered the idea of that weird ‘train to the afterlife’ thing, though...why it seemed valid when trains weren’t always around was a mystery to him, but still. This place seemed weird enough, and was he alone here?

Just about to get up and out of the compartment to check the engine car for any sort of conductor, he realized that perhaps it was a little too late. He could see the city, feel the slow of the cars and something was...well? There was a sort of feeling of urgency, to explore, which he wrote off as the usual curiosity he usually felt when anything new popped up. Why stay in the train when it looked like it might be there a while? No one was lining up outside to board...so it could wait. How and why he got there were still valid questions too and he had this sinking suspicion that if he went outside, he could get some answers.

And...yet, when he walked out, there were no greetings, no one to ask, just a city in waiting that he could see, people slightly off into the distance walking further in. “Ohhhhhkay...well. That’s weird.” He figured if he were dead there might be at least a guide to show him where he was supposed to go. Maybe if you weren’t religious they’d just shrug and let you figure out shit yourself. It made a little sense, seeing as he’d kind of done that all his life anyways. Onwards, he guessed, hunching his shoulders and shoving his hands in his pockets.

Though, that turned up some questions too...like, what was that in his pocket, and why was it there?

“This had so better not be crazy clock dudes…” He murmured, turning the watch over and inspecting it. Definitely not the kind of thing he’d usually have on his person. Still, it was attached to the belt loop of his pants, and he had no memory of putting it there. This was starting to get a little more than funky, straight into bizarre town.. Off handedly he wondered if the person who put it there was really hot, but that wouldn’t matter much anyways, especially since they weren’t around and it was becoming obvious to him that he probably would never meet them. Such is life. In any case, popping the watch open he was, maybe a little more surprised at the screen there than anything.

Adjusting his glasses he frowned down at it and tried to figure out why you would want to put a phone in a little watch.
